Overview

Nestled near the Kenyan border and close to the bustling city of Arusha, Arusha National Park is Tanzania’s hidden gem. At its center stands the majestic 4,566m Mount Meru, a favorite among climbers seeking a quieter alternative to Kilimanjaro. While often overshadowed by the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, this park is perfect for those craving breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife, and fewer crowds.

Arusha National Park boasts a stunning mix of ecosystems, from lush montane forests and sweeping grasslands to vibrant swamps and the tropical slopes of Mount Meru. This rich habitat attracts an incredible array of wildlife and bird species. Our Forgotten Pearl Day Safari offers a unique chance to explore the park on foot with a guided walking safari while also enjoying a scenic game drive through its spectacular terrain.

Highlights

  • Hidden Gem – Explore a lesser-known Tanzanian treasure.
  • Diverse Landscapes – From forests to grasslands and swamps.
  • Rich Wildlife – Encounter various animals and birds.
  • Walking Safari – Get close to nature on foot.
  • Game Drive – Take in stunning views on a scenic ride.

Tour Itinerary

Make sure you have an early (and good!) breakfast because we leave market town Moshi at 8:00 am sharp for the hour’s drive to Arusha National Park. Once you arrive, you’ll stretch your legs on an out-of-this-world walking safari, accompanied by a ranger who will guide you through rainforest up to a sparkling waterfall where you’ll be able to spot black and white colobus monkeys going about their day.

After a tasty lunch you’ll hop in the Land Cruiser for a game drive that will take you through a wider scope of the park, including the Lakes of Momella and the Ngurduto Crater, and you’ll most likely spot buffalo, waterbuck, giraffe, warthogs, zebra and gazelle as well as a host of different bird species. If you’re lucky you’ll catch a glimpse of the shy leopard or elephant. Don’t forget your camera! After the drive, you’ll be driven back to Moshi.

Best Family safari with Safari Escort We visited Tanzania as a family of 8 people and had to see Great Wildebeest Migration in Serengeti for the first time. We were worried of the kids but Isack and the company assured us that we can have kids with us. Sure enough, it was amazing. We stayed at Acacia properties in Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti.

Incredible This was our second experience in Tanzania after we had visited in 2023. This time we wanted to visit southern circuit of Tanzania. We therefore booked our 15 day safari covering Nyerere, Mikumi, Udzungwa and Ruaha including different ads-on activities like Walking, Boat, Hiking and Game drives. Lodges and camps were excellent, the foods (local foods), staff we met at every place we stayed were splendid. Can't say much above all Khalifa was a great guy, we had him as a guide for the trip. This was cost effective safari experience.

Can't wait to visit again We contacted Isack for our safari to experience Migration, he responded on time and arranged everything perfectly. Our 7 days were amazing, Jimson was the best guide we had and made it exceptional.

Best Tanzania Safari We enjoyed an exceptional 5-day safari in February during the calving season. We explored Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Ndutu area. Wildlife viewing was outstanding, particularly witnessing numerous newborn animals in Ndutu. The guides were highly knowledgeable and welcoming, consistently ensuring we experienced the best sightings in complete safety. The entire journey was excellently organized, and the driver was outstanding, driving smoothly while sharing many insightful facts. I felt safe and comfortable throughout the trip overall. This safari ranks among the finest experiences of my life. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour and Safari Escort.
