Tour Itinerary

  • Travel Time: Approx. 1 hour drive
  • Highlight/Activity: Game viewing in Arusha National Park

After breakfast in Arusha, your guide will pick you up for a scenic drive to Arusha National Park, a lush gem nestled between Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro. The park offers a surprising range of habitats, from montane forests and craters to tranquil lakes.

Enjoy a leisurely game drive where you may spot giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, and the acrobatic black-and-white colobus monkeys. If weather permits, you’ll catch stunning views of Mount Meru and even Kilimanjaro in the distance. After an exciting introduction to Tanzania’s biodiversity, return to Arusha for the evening.

  • Overnight: Masailand Safari Lodge
  • Travel Time: Approx. 5–6 hours
  • Highlight/Activity: Engaresero Waterfall walk and Lake Natron flamingo visit

Today’s drive takes you off the beaten path as you head northeast into the Great Rift Valley. Pass through rugged, volcanic landscapes and traditional Maasai homesteads before reaching the mystical shores of Lake Natron, one of the most alkaline lakes in the world.

Upon arrival, cool off with a hike to the refreshing Engaresero Waterfall, a hidden cascade nestled in a narrow gorge. In the evening, take a guided walk along the lake’s edge, where clouds of pink flamingos gather against a surreal backdrop.

  • Overnight: Moivaro Tented Camp
  • Travel Time: Approx. 5–6 hours with game drive en route
  • Highlight/Activity: Scenic drive and game viewing upon entering Serengeti

After an early breakfast, depart Lake Natron via a remote route that cuts through rugged landscapes, heading west toward Serengeti National Park. This journey offers incredible views of volcanoes and valleys, with occasional wildlife sightings even outside the park boundaries.

As you enter the Serengeti through the northeastern gate, your game drive begins. Look out for giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, and predators as you make your way to your tented camp for a well-earned rest.

  • Overnight: Kilima Valley Tented Camp
  • Travel Time: Within park, full-day drive
  • Highlight/Activity: Sunrise and afternoon game drives across central Serengeti

Spend the day exploring the heart of Serengeti National Park, home to Africa’s greatest concentration of wildlife. Begin with an early morning game drive when predators like lions and cheetahs are most active.

Traverse diverse habitats including kopjes (rocky outcrops), open plains, and riverbanks in search of elephants, leopards, hyenas, and large herbivore herds. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wild before continuing your afternoon game drive.

  • Overnight: Kilima Valley Tented Camp
  • Travel Time: Within park, full-day drive
  • Highlight/Activity: Extended exploration of Serengeti’s diverse ecosystems

Today allows for deeper exploration of Serengeti’s central and eastern zones. Follow wildlife movements, track large carnivores, and observe the rhythm of life on the endless plains. If your visit coincides with the migration, witness the awe-inspiring sight of thousands of wildebeest and zebras on the move.

Each drive is tailored by your guide to maximize your viewing experience based on current wildlife activity.

  • Overnight: Kilima Valley Tented Camp
  • Travel Time: Approx. 4–5 hours with game drive en route
  • Highlight/Activity: Final Serengeti game drive and scenic transfer to Ngorongoro Highlands

Begin the morning with a relaxed game drive as you exit the Serengeti, offering one last chance to spot elusive wildlife such as leopards or rhinos. Then ascend into the cooler, green Ngorongoro Highlands, passing through woodlands and fertile farmland.

Stop at the crater rim for a sweeping view into the caldera before continuing to your lodge in Karatu, where you’ll unwind amid rolling hills and coffee plantations.

  • Overnight: Masailand Coffee Lodge
  • Travel Time: Approx. 1 hour to crater, full-day safari
  • Highlight/Activity: Game drive in Ngorongoro Crater, picnic by hippo pool

After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often called the Eighth Wonder of the World. This massive caldera is home to nearly every species of East African wildlife — including the Big Five.

Search for lions, elephants, hippos, jackals, and possibly the endangered black rhino. A scenic picnic near a hippo pool allows time to relax before your afternoon ascent and return to Karatu.

  • Overnight: Masailand Coffee Lodge
  • Travel Time: Approx. 2 hours to park, 2–3 hours to Arusha
  • Highlight/Activity: Game drive in Tarangire National Park

On your final safari day, journey to Tarangire National Park, famous for its massive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. Explore the river ecosystem, where wildlife gathers during the dry season, and keep watch for lions, giraffes, eland, and over 500 species of birds.

After an exciting game drive and lunch, continue to Arusha, where your safari adventure concludes in the afternoon.
