Journey from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi & Afternoon Safari
Leave Dar es Salaam early in the morning and travel toward Mikumi National Park, enjoying changing landscapes, local villages, and views of the Uluguru Mountains along the journey. After arriving in the Mikumi area, enter the park for your first wildlife adventure. Your guide will shape the route around current wildlife activity, road conditions and the best available viewing areas. Stops are unhurried, allowing time to observe animal behaviour, photograph the landscape and understand how the park’s habitats connect. Rather than chasing a checklist, the day follows the rhythms of the ecosystem and the guide’s local knowledge. Breaks are arranged at suitable points while keeping the experience comfortable, focused and respectful of the wildlife.
Camp Lilac
Camp Lilac is a small tourist camp used as a convenient base for Mikumi and the surrounding southern circuit. Its character is informal and nature-focused, with accommodation and meal service arranged for travellers moving between park activities and road transfers. The setting offers a quieter overnight pause than staying in a large town, while keeping the next stage of the route practical. It fits itineraries that combine Mikumi wildlife viewing with Udzungwa or onward travel toward Nyerere and Dar es Salaam.
